ASMAC Competition/Scholarships

David Blumberg Scholarship

Deadline for submission: August 1st, 2021.
To apply, you must be a current student, studying arranging and music composition in a music school, college, conservatory, university or privately. You do NOT need to be a student member of ASMAC.
Age Limit: 29

Complete the online application or mail-in application and submit it no later than August 1st, 2021 with:

  •  A short arrangement of an original or standard. This may be written for any instrumentation. Your submission must be in the form of a musical score (concert or transposed). In addition, we encourage you to attach a recording or demo of your submission as well.
  • A copy of your student identification card.
  • A one-page statement of your career goals and aspirations.
  • A letter of recommendation from a faculty member and/or professional composer or arranger who is familiar with your work.

This Scholarship awardee will be announced and presented at the Masterclass, Webinar or Big Band Hang closest to the conclusion of the competition, at the discretion of the ASMAC executive committee. 

The Pat Williams Scholarship for Composition

This is a $1,000 scholarship for composition. Deadline for submission: August 1st, 2021

Bill Conti Big Band Competition

1st prize: $1,000
2nd prize: $500
3rd prize: $250
