How will “Full Work” Licensing Affect my Income?

15 September 2016

SEPT 18, 2016 UPDATE regarding the post published below: Fortunately, sanity prevailed on Friday when Judge Louis Stanton upheld BMI’s challenge to the Department of Justice’s intention to impose “full work” licensing via the existing consent decree. On behalf of the SCL, I congratulate Mike O’Neill and his entire legal team at BMI for their efforts on behalf of all music creators and stakeholders. But what happens now?

Our panel discussion next Tuesday (5pm at the Crest Theatre in Westwood, California) will address the situation as we return to the original objective: to modify the consent decrees, improve copyright law and make music licensing more equitable for composers, songwriters and publishers. The event is open to all – SCL members and non-members alike – so please invite your friends and colleagues to join us. – Ashley Irwin, President
