“Orchestration for blockbuster movies and the efficient use of FINALE”

Tim Davies is an arranger, orchestrator, and grammy-nominated composer. As an arranger he has written for the likes of Amy Winehouse, Cee Lo Green, Miguel, Akon, Salaam Remi, Nas, and many ensembles including the Los Angeles Philharmonic and the Metropol Orkest. He is also one of the busiest conductors and orchestrators in Hollywood. Recent projects include: The Hangover Part III, Smurfs 2, Frozen, Muppets Most Wanted, and Need for Speed. He is also active in orchestral video game scores, having worked on such titles as Infamous 2, Batman: Arkham City, Knack, and The Last of Us.

However, his true passion is writing for and playing drums with the Tim Davies Big Band. In 2010 he was nominated for a Grammy for best instrumental composition for “Counting to Infinity.” His third album will be released in early 2014. It features four charts each from his Australian band and his Los Angeles band, and a new work for double big band.

Tim is active on the board of Education Through Music Los Angeles, a non-profit that provides music lessons in schools that do not have music programs. He shares his thoughts on orchestration and arranging on his blog, debreved.com.
