2017 Bill Conti Competition

ASMAC is excited to announce the Bill Conti Big Band Arranging & Composing Competition! The 2017 Big Band Arranging & Composing Competition is sponsored by the renowned Oscar and Emmy award winning composer/conductor Bill Conti (Rocky, The Right Stuff, For Your Eyes Only, Rocky Balboa, Dynasty, Falcon Crest and numerous annual Academy Award ceremonies, to name a few).   Kim Richmond, ASMAC President, and Elliot Deutsch, Competition Chair, thank Mr. Conti for his longstanding support of this competition which recognizes some of the most promising young arrangers and composers of jazz orchestra music. 

The competition is open to all Student or Associate Members of ASMAC in good standing, age 29 or under, as of May 5, 2017 which is the entry deadline.  (See member information if you are not already a member.) In addition to the first prize of $1,000, there is a 2nd prize of $300 and a 3rd Prize of $200.  The winners will also have their works read at a future rehearsal of the Kim Richmond Concert Jazz Orchestra.
