ASMAC’s 2016 Golden Score Awards was a sold out affair honoring Alf Clausen and William Ross — the star studded evening began with a reception and silent auction while guests mingled and caught up. Moving into dinner, the conversations continued until the master of ceremonies for the evening, the inimitable Leonard Maltin brought the room to order.
After introducing a number of VIP’s in the audience, ASMAC President Kim Richmond welcomed the guests and on with the show. The Alf Clausen Studio Orchestra and the Sally Stevens Singers paid tribute to Alf with 4 songs from The Simpsons and one from Moonlighting. Music Editor Chris Ledesma introduced a video featuring Alf’s career highlights to date, and then made the presentation. Leonard announced that The Simpsons had just been renewed for another two years making it the longest running scripted series.
Then on with the tribute to William Ross which began with a who’s who congratulatory message from Barbra Streisand, Andrea Bocelli, Kenny G, Michael Bublé, Gustavo Dudamell, Alan & Marilyn Bergman, Céline Dion, Josh Groban and a hilarious capper from Sean Callery.
Then on with the accolades from Music Producer David Foster who also introduced a video of some of Bill’s music credits; director Jay Russell (My Dog Skip), and composer Alan Silvestri… with the presentation being made by the one and only John Williams. A beautiful musical salute to the music from My Dog Skip was conducted by Kim Richmond and retrospective video tributes concluded the fabulous evening.
